Why We Love ARK's Textured Grabber®

If your child bites their nails, chews their sleeves, or grinds their teeth, then the ARK's Textured Grabber is the ultimate oral motor chew tool. It has an easy-to-hold loop and a long extension to reach the back molars so children can use it as a safe alternative to chewing on other objects. It can also be used as an oral motor therapy tool, particularly for those with a high need for oral stimulation, to practice their biting and chewing skills without the risk of choking, build jaw strength and stability, and exercise the mouth muscles.

Featuring three distinctive surfaces: smooth, circular bumps, and rectangular bumps, your child can experience heightened sensory input, which makes it a favourite among sensory seekers. These textures can replicate the sensations of real food, offering authentic non-food chewing practices by desensitising the mouth and reducing oral defensiveness and aversions. The oral motor chew seamlessly guides individuals with sensory sensitivities towards embracing textured foods.

ARK'S Grabber is available in 3 toughness levels:

  • Soft / Standard (Red): Recommended for mild chewing, individuals with low oral needs, or individuals with limited jaw strength just learning to bite and chew. These are the softest ones with the most "squishiness" and give to them.
  • XT / Medium Firm, Xtra Tough (Teal): These are firmer but still fairly chewy. Recommended for moderate chewers or individuals working on building jaw strength that can eventually "graduate" to the XT.
  • XXT / Very Firm, Xtra Xtra Tough (Royal Blue or Forest Green): These are the most firm, provide the most resistance to the jaw and are the longest-lasting option for the most avid chewers.

Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, they are not indestructible. You should regularly inspect and check the chew for signs of wear and tear. They typically last depending on the amount and intensity of the chewing, as well as other oral sensory needs like jaw strength, stress/anxiety levels and if other sensory strategies are in place.
